Wellness & Preventative Care
Our preventative health care plans span the lifetime of your pet, from initial puppy/kitten examinations to our senior care programs. Vaccinations, heartworm testing and parasite detection for the prevention of zoonotic diseases are just a few of the key components to keeping your pet healthy. At Angel Veterinary Center we believe in continuously education our doctors and staff, so that we are always abreast of innovative developments in preventative medicine. We pride ourselves on offering our clients the most up-to-date information available, so that they can make the most informed decisions regarding the care of their companions. Here are just a few of the services we offer: weight management, behavioral counseling, dermatology, pain management and advanced allergy testing.
Internal Medicine
There will be times when your companion may not feel 100%, and it is our job to get them back on their feet! The cornerstone of internal medicine is the ability to both diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases such as gastrointestinal , liver, kidney, cardiovascular, respiratory, seizures, epilepsy and endocrine. Our veterinarians will start with a comprehensive examination, which may include diagnostic testing, EKG, ultrasound and digital radiography, in order to provide a timely and accurate diagnosis. This means that your pet can be on the road to recovery as quickly as possible.
Surgery & Laser Surgery
Our veterinarians are skilled at performing routine, non-routine and emergency surgeries, and our large, sterile surgical suite has the best monitoring equipment available. During every procedure your pet's vital signs are monitored by one of our highly trained technicians. While anesthesia is considered extremely safe, we also require all patients undergoing surgery to have a pre-anesthetic blood panel to ensure that there are no unknown health issues. All of our patients also have a catheter placed so that they can receive fluids, which enables a speedy recovery. Lastly, all of our patients receive pre-surgical pain medication and are sent home with a regimen of post-surgical pain medication as well. At Angel we have been using a surgical laser for many years; the use of a laser reduces recovery time, swelling, pain and bleeding. We highly recommend that you discuss the use of our laser if your pet requires surgery.
Dentistry
It has been proven that maintaining your pet's oral health is one of the most important things you can do to help them live longer; poor oral hygiene can lead to periodontal disease, tooth loss and other serious conditions such as heart, liver and kidney disease.
During a dentistry procedure your pet's teeth are scaled and polished, gingival pockets are measured and a set of full-mouth radiographs are taken to determine any root damage or need for extractions. Our doctors will keep in touch with you during the procedure and will notify you if they find anything that needs to be addressed while your pet is under anesthesia.
At Angel Veterinary Center we have made a strong commitment to educating our clients on the importance of dental care and we include a thorough dental screening at every examination. There have also been major advances in veterinary dental home care products, and our team will help you develop a plan that best suits you and your pet.
Radiology & Ultrasound
We are proud to have a state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory within our hospital, as well as digital radiolography and our own in-house ultrasound unit. Our patients also benefit from the diagnostic support of a national veterinary laboratory where, in most cases, results will arrive in less than twenty-four hours. Our veterinarians also have immediate access to the laboratory's board certified pathologists and specialists whenever they want to consult or get a second opinion.
When your pet needs x-rays or ultrasound, our digital equipment ensures highest quality films in the least amount of time. Our doctors will be able to review these films with you on the screens in each exam room, and your pet's films will be stored safely in our database so that they can be retrieved at any time. If your pet is referred to an emergency hospital or specialist, digital imaging ensures that the referral veterinarian will have the current films in-hand when meeting your pet. We can easily provide you with a copy of your pet's films on a disc, or we can email them directly to the specialist.
Laser Therapy
The use of therapeutic laser treatments as a healing modality has been an integral option in human medicine for over thirty-five years. These low-level light lasers (sometimes referred to as "cold light") arae able to penetrate deeply into the cells to stimulate healing without generating heat. Whether longterm or acute, therapeutic lasers stimulate healing and reduce pain from injuries, wounds, lesions and other chronic conditions.
